چکیده

This paper presents results of wide-band path loss and delay spread measurements for five representative microcelMar environments in the San Francisco Bay area at 1900 MHz. Measurements were made with a wide-band channel sounder using a 100-ns probing pulse. Base station antenna heights of 3.7 m, 8.5 m, and 13.3 m were tested with a mobile receiver antenna height of 1.7 m to emulate a typical microcellular scenario. The results presented in this paper provide insight into the satistical distributions of measured path loss by showing the validity of a double regression model with a break point at a distance that has first Fresnel zone clearance for line-of-sight topographies. The variation of delay spread as a function of path loss is also investigated, and a simple exponential overbound model is developed. The path loss and delay spread models are then applied to communication system design allowing outage probabilities, based on path loss or delay spread, to be estimated for a given microcell size.

MICROCELLULAR PROPAGATION CHARACTERISTICS Howard

To enhance the spectral efficiency and to improve service quality for cellular radio systems, a new microcellular system has been proposed [1-5] that operate over a relatively short radio path (on the order of 200 m to 1000 m), using relatively low antennas (about the same height as lamp posts), and transmitting at relatively low power (typically on the order of 10 m W). This new concept of mic...

Propagation Characteristics for Radio Channel of MIMO System in Urban Area at 781 MHz

This paper presents the measured propagation characteristics like a path loss, delay spread and angular spread for urban environments in Jeju at 781 MHz. Measurements were made with a wide band MIMO channel sounder using a pseudo noise (PN) mode, 50 Mcps, 20 ns resolution and 40.96 μs maximum delay. Base station (BS) antenna height of 5 m was tested with a mobile station (MS) antenna height of ...

Peer - to - Peer Low Antenna Outdoor Radio Wave Propagation at 1 . 8 Ghz

In this outdoor propagation study, low antenna heights of 1. 7 m are used at both the transmitter and the receiver to measure wideband (100 MHz baseband) power-delay profiles (PDPs) of the channel for a peer-to-peer communications system operating at 1.8 GHz. Rural and urban areas are studied in 22 different transmitter-receiver links, and the path loss and delay spread characteristics are pres...

Statistical Modelling and Characterization of Experimental mm-Wave Indoor Channels for Future 5G Wireless Communication Networks

This paper presents an experimental characterization of millimeter-wave (mm-wave) channels in the 6.5 GHz, 10.5 GHz, 15 GHz, 19 GHz, 28 GHz and 38 GHz frequency bands in an indoor corridor environment. More than 4,000 power delay profiles were measured across the bands using an omnidirectional transmitter antenna and a highly directional horn receiver antenna for both co- and cross-polarized an...
